Discovering Omar Dyer Part 2

The age of Social Media written by TheFanNJ 10/24/2023

As, we discover the credence of Omar Dyer, we have to look back to the dawn of social media. In the early 2000 as young adult, ending his years of being a teenager–watched Omar Dyer grow, in the early development of social media. Before the youtube hits, the myspace wonders; social media in the collegiate decade was yahoo chat rooms, or AOL instant messenger.

If you didn’t know #Napster was one of the biggest newly developed social media platforms. Napster is known for the infamous case with Emienem and Metaclia over music distribution rights. Napster vs Emienem and Metallica was a huge deal in 2000, until 2003. What was a major concern with the case was the availability to download music. The artist known as Slim Shade along with Shawn Carter, wrote and produced a song called: Renegade. According to Marshall Mathers, he protested that his unleashed version was pirated. Because the most popular copy of that unreleased track was downloaded 5 million times. Which means that before iTunes, that type of distribution was a platinum song. Long story short, Omar Dyer as a college freshman, was vital in that case because it was alleged that the version Marshall Mathers had was deleted; didn’t make the official album and the killer verse was removed from the track.

Omar Dyer later disappeared from the social media scenery during the early spokes of the internet. At the end of the fight against social media’s infant stages; Omar Dyer reemerged on the scenery in 2007. When he created and birth the social media icon, and pseudonym “TheFanNJ” — with that said, Omar Dyer’s internship with iTunes helped groomed the iTunes explosion.

Thus, creating the self-proclaimed “TheFanNJ” which had major influence in the new world and growth of social media with: Myspace. Myspace quickly replaced Napster as the community channel to share music. The only difference was the music shared on myspace led to actual airplays for artist since myspace had connections with Universal Music Group.

#TheFanNJ became a noted writer and poet from 2006 until 2014 — when he was a part of the Children’s Institution of Literature. Becoming an acclaimed writer with this prestigious institution, and the history of Children’s Institution of Literature; made Omar Dyer a candidate for his self-proclaimed legacy. In the same year of 2006, Omar Dyer started interning for Time Warner Magazines, and other freelance writing operations.

He later went on to apply for various organizations to vet his resume and seek nominations to these writing awards. Omar Dyer in that time hooked up with A&R’s from or with Good Music and collaborated with artist in their network. While he was a collaborator for Good Music INC, Omar Dyer applied and was granted internship with Apple INC, the iTunes division, and also with Microsoft, as an intern software adviser to development. Thus, creating the moniker known as #TheFanNJ, which was a poet, children’s writer and sports beat walker. During that run, Omar Dyer bumped into a Senator from Illinois by the name of Senator Barack Obama. The two became friends and built a connection on social media; whereas both helped each other reach unprecedent level of notoriety.

Omar Dyer in 2007, self-proclaimed himself as the legend in the game of writing with 8 nominations to different small press awards, and a query as a nominated person for a Noble Prize in literature. And to this day, many people laugh at his self-proclaimed accomplishments. Yet, that doesn’t define the story of Omar Dyer–who literally built a massive audience on Myspace, Facebook, and iTunes. In 2007, known as the year of awakening, with massive protesting on Apple Products, massive protesting on human right’s issue with the controversy around Jena 6.

This allowed the start of Omar Dyer’s political career, as the data and information shows, his career was from 2009, until 2012. And during that time, Omar Dyer became one of the top advocates in the state of New Jersey. He would then engage in what people knew as the biggest corruption sting in New Jersey.

#OWS Occupy Wall Street 2011

Omar Dyer was an influential person or face in the notion of the short-lived movement. There has been a lot of debate or discussion on whether or not Omar Dyer had any influence: “OWS is going nowhere without leadership“. Times Magazine, interviewed Omar Dyer back in 2011, and since this was a leaderless movement — the editors named: “The Protestor” as the person of the year.

After the incident that happened at the Sheraton Hotel — during a #BarackObama and #Mikebloomberg event (Fundraiser) there was a standoff with the police, and OWS–where Omar Dyer stepped out of the spotlight, and vanished from the scene, which caused the movement to fade way.
